Yiwu, in Zhejiang province, is home to Yiwu International Trade City, also known as the Futian market. It is one of the largest wholesale markets for small commodities in the world, with more than 75,000 booths spread across five districts. If you sell gifts, accessories, stationery or household goods, you can see thousands of products in a few days.

The appeal is range and flexibility. Many booths are showrooms run by factories, others belong to traders who represent several workshops. Minimum order quantities are often lower than when you order directly from a factory, and you can mix small quantities from dozens of suppliers in a single order.

The real challenge: buying from many booths at once

Walking the market is the easy part. A typical Yiwu order involves 10, 20 or 50 suppliers, each with its own prices, MOQ, lead time and packaging, all negotiated in Chinese. Each supplier delivers separately. Without someone on site, you cannot check the goods before loading or ship everything together.

7. Shipping: sea freight (FCL or LCL), air or rail China–Europe, on FOB, EXW or DDP terms. For DDP, door-to-door delivery and customs clearance are handled through our freight forwarder partners. Ningbo port, close to Yiwu, is the usual departure point for sea freight.

Yiwu market or factory: which suits your project?

Yiwu works best for mixed assortments, low to medium quantities per item and standard products with light customisation, such as a logo or custom packaging. For large volumes of a single product, or products that need specific tooling or certifications, working directly with a factory is usually the better route.
